a gig a few weeks back, a bloke in the front row commented on my floral shirt, said it was a paedophile’s shirt…i had a good mind to tell him that my girlfriend bought it for me, and she’d be upset at what he said. well, she’s only twelve. would have been funny in the moment. but now it isn’t….hopefully the situation will come again,

felt

down yesterday, and not so great today. i can’t look at facebook half the time, there’s so much crap on it.

Saw Mickey 17, a mad film, not as good as parasite (same director), but entertaining. Saw it in Cross Hands cinema, independent cinema, almost missed the start as i was talking to the manager Dave. I asked him if they ever show welsh films. he said well we’ve got the controversial film next week: Burton.

I will give the film Burton a miss – a richard burton/philip burton biopic…fuckin hell can’t they get welsh actors for these roles ?? or even an actor who looks vaguely like philip burton did. what a load of bollocks, all the compromises that film makers have to make in order to get their vision out there, but is it then the original vision or not?

Weather has turned. i will be meeting dave soon for a coffee – he is into comedy and writing.

did i mention the brilliant gig over a week ago? it was a friday night in Maesteg town hall. for Kris Davies. they have built extensions since i last did this gig, and it is an amazing job of refurb. a really nice intimate space, and the audience in the space were totally up for it. Sandro was there, fresh from his podcast success. I waved at him through the window of the chip shop, and he showed me how to get into teh new building, then knocked back the pints. Kris gave me and sandro a lift home. Tis the kindness of the valleys…tis a time to go walking. anyway, the audience laughed in all the right places. But for some reason, even though it’s a great venue, it’s really difficult to find a way in. i had to knock on the windows, and a moody usher looked at me – but they’re all volunteers so fair play.

and i thoroughly enjoyed it. did u noel? yes. good.

then after that one i did my xtended set at Cu Mumbles. on the saturday. i made a profit. It’s the only way to go now, arrange your own gigs, make your own breaks. The audience on this might were not laughing in all the right places, they were hard to please, or hard to make vocal. Jeff turned up with a good crowd, paul thomas and gregory turned up. even gareth richards turned up by himself.
